Natural and preserved pampas grass — an exquisite touch to home design. A preservation of elegance that ignites a deeper desire and the appreciation of something special. Their majestic, cloud-like feathers and durable nature make them ideal for those who seek style in minimal luxury and low-maintenance decor. But how do we maintain their lavish quality?
FLUFF IT UP
When these plumes first arrive at your home they will likely be pressed from shipping. Take them outside, turn them upside down with the fluffy end perpendicular to the ground. Hold the stem between the palms of both hands and gently twist the stem to loosen the plume. You may also need to use your fingertips to lightly separate the plume if it’s bunched together.
Then use the hairdryer on a hot heat and direct towards the pampas grass like you are painting up and down in stroke-like motions, turning the pampas grass to achieve an even distribution of fluffiness. When doing this, it is normal for them to shed a lot and is why we recommend this is done outdoors. Afterwards the shedding will be minimal.
DUST GENTLY
Preserved pampas grass can collect dust over time and may need excess fluff removed. You can do this by gently giving it a light shake outside or repeat the same process above, when needed to keep them looking their best. It’s wise to style them in a quiet space away from high-traffic areas so they remain undisturbed and in exceptional condition.
AVOID MOISTURE
Keep preserved pampas grass away from moisture hotspots like the bathroom or laundry room. Due to their preserved nature they don’t need any water which makes them a low-maintenance home feature. Watering will damage the product and affect their life span.
SAFETY ALWAYS
Dried and preserved flowers are flammable, so keep them away from naked flames or any other exposure to unnatural heat. All of our stems available are pre-cut and measured for your desired height, whether that be the mini, classic or signature pampas grass, so there is no need to cut them yourself unless desired.
DESIGN THE FINAL AESTHETICS.
Place in a vase to complete your stylish sanctuary. We love pairing ours with tall vessels and showing a portion of the stems — the perfect recipe for a natural and modern interior.
HAIRSPRAY
We like to keep them as natural as possible but some varieties of pampas grass shed more than others and we recommend after finalising your design to spritz some hairspray from arms length distance to ensure minimal fall out. This little hack will further preserve their luscious look.
There you have it, our how-to-care guide.
Remember the recipe to thriving pampas grass is good preparation and the right environment.
